Sea Turtle with Only Three Flippers Ready to be Released!

McClellan, Now Healthy and Headed Out to Sea
Losing a front flipper and a portion of her shell isn't keeping one hearty sea turtle out of the ocean. McClellan, a 230-pound adult female loggerhead has fully recovered from traumatic injures at the South Carolina Aquarium's Sea Turtle Hospital after spending four months in recovery. She will be released back into the Atlantic this Friday, October 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Isle of Palms County Park on the Isle of Palms. The release is being held in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission (CCPRC).

Lumberjacks Invade Pegion Forge with New Attraction

2011’s hottest ticket in timber sports invades Pigeon Forge, Tenn., with the recent grand opening of Lumberjack Sports International’s Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud, a $10 million attraction billed as the “Smokies’ Rowdiest Good-Time Dinner Show” and featuring ESPN lumberjack athletes.

Woodchips flew as Lumberjack Feud unveiled its action-packed show in a nearly 1,000-seat performance arena, where speed-climbing, axe-throwing, chopping, sawing and log-rolling were just some of the competitive events performed for a thrilled audience.

TENNESSEE’S PIE IN THE SKY TRAIL LAUNCHED


State and City Officials Gather to Kick-Off Regional Trail

Tennessee Tourism Commissioner Susan Whitaker officially launched The Pie in the Sky Trail.  The seventh of 16 self-guided driving tours in the Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways program, The Pie in the Sky Trail spans 363 miles throughout East and portions of Middle Tennessee, guiding tourists through communities brimming with iconic attractions and outdoor adventure from Chattanooga to Monteagle, McMinnville to Crossville and returning to the Sequatchie Valley.
