Les Dames d’ Escoffier International Raises $80,000 at 11th Annual Afternoon in the Country

Renowned culinary event to donate proceeds to local charitable organizations
The 11annualAtlanta Chapter of Les Dames d’ Escoffier International’sAfternoon in the Country, held Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Serenbe raised $80,000 for local organizations that educate and bring awareness to the Georgia farming community. Foodies at the event, which continually sells out each year, enjoyed a food and wine extravaganza featuring more than 80 regional chefs, fine wines and micro-brews, a one-of-a-kind cake raffle, an expanded silent auction, live music and hayrides.

 Downtown Atlanta’s Luckie Marietta District announces the appointment of Matthew Doyle as its new Executive Director.  Doyle is a seasoned marketing professional in the luxury travel and hospitality industry with vast experience marketing over 50 destinations, hotels, restaurants, casinos and real estate properties around the country.  He now brings a fresh perspective and commitment leading the 60-member district toward its goal of being Atlanta’s premier walkable downtown neighborhood.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to Speak at Georgia Southern University



Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will speak at Georgia Southern University’s Hanner Fieldhouse on Wednesday, March 28 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

During Giuliani’s term as mayor of New York, he was credited with the economic turnaround and revitalization of the city. Giuliani’s leadership in the months following the September 11th attacks led him to be dubbed “America’s Mayor” and named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year.” Giuliani also received a knighthood from Great Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II for his efforts.

World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and is a key opportunity to raise awareness, to commemorate those who have passed on, and to celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services. 
 
This year the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) will commemorate World AIDS Day by staying open for 24 hours (from 12:00am to 11:59pm on December 1).  
 
During that time period, visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to take in two AIDS-related exhibitions,

Mayor Kasim Reed will hold a press conference to discuss the Enterprise Fund for the Atlanta Office of Buildings and Ordinance.  The press conference will be held at City Hall on November 29, 2011 at 9:15 am.  Commissioner James Shelby and Don Rosenthal, Director of the Office of Buildings, Michael Paris, president and CEO of the Council for Quality Growth and John Ferguson, president of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors will also be on hand to discuss the importance of this legislation.
