Assouline unveils the latest in our acclaimed The Light of... series, The Light of Venice

THE LIGHT OF VENICE
Photographs and text by Jean-Michel Berts

"I always try to give my photographs a feeling of
timelessness…. I never know the photograph I’m going to
make, the photograph comes to me, it finds me." —Jean-Michel Berts

Joining Assouline’s popular The Light of... series, this fifth volume sees lensman Jean-Michel Berts not only turn his masterful eye to the captivating city of Venice, this time Berts guides readers through the twists and turns of his photographic journey, relating through images and journal entries the emotions the city evokes. La Serenissima is revealed through Berts’s ethereal black-and-white photographs, taken at dawn, when the city’s magnificent architecture and myriad canals and bridges are shrouded in misty solitude.
The Light of Venice is a gorgeous volume on this sublime city and a splendid addition to the series.
Jean-Michel Berts has been a photographer since age sixteen. With his first Rolleiflex camera he became sensitive to the effects of light. Today Berts enjoys an international reputation and exhibits his work at art galleries in Berlin, Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo. He has also worked on advertising campaigns for luxury brands such as Cacharel, Dior, Jaquet Droz, and Lancôme.

The Light of Venice is available for purchase at ASSOULINE boutiques worldwide and through
