COMO Hotels and Resorts first opened The Halkin in London’s Belgravia.  The combination of smooth and accurate service, healthy Michelin-starred food, and contemporary, understated style led to the creation of additional properties, each different from the other while respecting COMO’s core commitment – to indulge every guest’s sense of respite, be it on a private island or a city hotel in the world’s most dynamic capitals.  Along with The Halkin, its urban properties include the Metropolitan hotels in London and Bangkok; its first resort was Parrot Cay, which quickly rose to be the Caribbean hotspot.  All of the properties convey the COMO aesthetic as well as a sense of place.  At the Uma properties in Bhutan and Bali, guests become one with the surrounding landscapes through trips to local monasteries and treks through rice paddies.  The company’s flagship property and destination wellness retreat, COMO Shambhala Estate – secluded in the jungle outside Ubud – provides a total, 360-degree experience closely tailored to each guest’s needs: starting with an individual consultation before embarking on a three-, five-, or seven-night wellness program.COMO Shambhala is the COMO Group’s healthy living concept.  COMO Shambhala at Home, a lifestyle brand, creates skin and bodycare products. COMO Shambhala owns, designs, and manages seven wellness centers at properties worldwide.  City hotel spas, known as COMO Shambhala Urban Escapes, are found in the Metropolitan London and Metropolitan Bangkok, and the COMO Shambhala Retreats are Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, Cocoa Island in the Maldives, Uma Ubud in Bali, and Uma Paro in Bhutan, as well as the COMO Shambhala Estate.  The company, however, is more than products and treatments, taking a holistic approach to wellness.  Yoga and Pilates are fundamental to this approach – at all properties yoga facilities are available – and retreats are led by some of the top gurus in these fields throughout the year.  COMO Shambhala developed its own cuisine of energizing and organic ingredients.

Nantucket Island Resorts featured on Atlanta's Finest.com

The island of Nantucket is located 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Reachable by plane or ferry, the island is known for its East Coast elegance and is home to superb eateries, shops, and an ever-growing number of festivals and events.  At the same time, its small size and out-at-sea location gives it a mystique that many other coastal places have lost.  Over 50% of the island is under conservation, preserving the 80 miles of wide white beaches – all open to the public - and the interior landscape that is green and dotted with hydrangeas in the summer and becomes windswept and peaceful in the cooler months.  There are still many secret spots, much to be discovered on the bicycle paths that line all the main roads, and a rich local feeling.  Find a piece of the island for yourself, perhaps with a bottle of the local Whale’s Tale Pale Ale brew on the beach, or Champagne cocktails by the harbor.

Nantucket was originally a flourishing whaling port and the historic downtown still retains the architecture from the 17th century – on Main Street, grey-shingled storefronts and old-fashioned lamps line the cobblestone streets.  The harbor, once home to whaling ships, now features the Nantucket Boat Basin, a full-serve marina that was recently awarded as Best Transient Marina in the U.S.  Just down the road, the Nantucket Whaling Museum brings to life the rich whaling and fisherman culture upon which the island thrived centuries ago.

There are no properties that define the island experience like Nantucket Island Resorts.  We recommend staying in more than one, if time allows. The new White Elephant Hotel Residences are sparkling homages to the classic Nantucket aesthetic of nautical colors and relaxed luxury, including a pool and bikes.  Hidden down garden paths, the cottages of the White Elephant have fireplaces and lofty ceilings, while the Cottages and Lofts at the Boat Basin are snug enclaves literally on top of the harbor.  All are near bustling Nantucket town and the White Elephant, the iconic, harbor side hotel.  The Wauwinet, a Relais & Chateaux inn, is located on the loveliest natural landscape at the end of the island and has antique-furnished guestrooms overlooking the ocean and bay. And for a true throwback to the island’s golden age of whaling, there is the Jared Coffin House, a brick mansion on a quiet corner of historic downtown.
